Bunwa Kaku was once Chuuei Toutaku's second-in-command at Rakuyo High School.

Appearance

Kaku has long raven-black hair tied in two tails, wears glasses, and is usually seen in Rakuyo High School's official uniform: a red blazer, red skirt, and knee-high socks.

Personality

Kaku is highly manipulative, preferring to maneuver other fighters into battling for her rather than fighting herself.

Story (Anime)

Ikkitousen

Bunwa Kaku is first seen participating in a meeting with Toutaku, stating that the Great Fighters Tournament is about to begin.

She is next seen telling Ryofu to know her place after Ryofu disagrees with Toutaku's decision to cancel the finals of the Great Fighters Tournament.

Kaku then travels to Kyosho to tell Kyosho Academy that, although they have won the tournament by default, they never actually defeated Rakuyo, so Rakuyo High does not have to give up the Gyokuji. Moutoku Sousou responds by saying it would be acceptable to kill their leader anytime they want, and Kaku coolly tells him to go ahead.

She then orders a group of Rakuyo fighters to kill Ryofu on Toutaku's orders, but her plan fails when Ryofu easily defeats them all.

Kaku is next seen catching Koudai Chinkyuu in the act of trying to steal the Gyokuji. After recovering the Gyokuji, she allows one of the fighters to do as he pleases with Chinkyuu.

Kaku then travels to Kyosho Academy to give Sousou and his fighters the Gyokuji, hoping to secure Rakuyo's position under Kyosho and guarantee protection from Kyosho Academy itself. Sousou agrees to these terms.

Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny

Kaku is seen with Houkou Kakuka, who praises her for her role in helping Kyosho gain the most territories in Kanto. Kaku replies that she merely guided the fighters to follow their fate, and she and Kakuka begin to share an intimate moment.

Kaku and Kakuka are later shown together again as Kakuka explains that Sousou's dragon is a vital part of gaining control over Kanto.

Sousou and Kaku are then seen talking, with Kaku informing him that Yoshu has fallen; however, this does not satisfy Sousou's anger, and he orders her to destroy Yoshu in vengeance for his friend who lost an eye to a Yoshu fighter.

She later participates in a meeting with Sousou and Bonsoku Ukin, which ends abruptly when Sousou kills Bonsoku for his arrogance. Sousou then forbids Kaku from making any more plans on her own, showing that he has little trust in her abilities.

Kaku eventually comes across Kakuka's gravely injured body, rapidly bleeding out. He tells her that she needs to find Myousai Kakouen, and dies after uttering his final words.

Kaku then informs Sousou of Kakuka's death, prompting an enraged Sousou to direct all forces against Nanyo. Kaku warns him that he is following the same path as his ancestor, but he ignores her, choosing to act as Kakuka's friend first and Sousou second.

Kaku tells Genjou Kakouton that he must lead the charge against Nanyo. Although he initially objects, disliking the idea of a sneak attack, he eventually agrees, unwilling to defy his friend once he learns that the order is imperial.

Kaku is later informed by Bunen Choryo that she has been fired as strategist for Kyosho and replaced by someone supposedly better, Chuutatsu Shibai. Bunen then attempts to force himself on her, but she escapes and, tired of being continuously betrayed by her supposed leaders Toutaku and Sousou, resolves to fight on her own and rely solely on herself.

In a conversation with Kakouen, Kaku manipulates her into going to Nanyo to try to take the Dragon Jade, hoping to prove that she is superior to Shibai.

Kaku later hears of the Battle of Red Cliffs from two passing Kyosho fighters and is amazed at how quickly the war between Kyosho and Nanyo has progressed.

While wandering aimlessly, Kaku finds Kakouton sitting by himself. She asks what he is doing, and he replies that he is looking for his friend, Sousou.
