Bun'en Choryo is a fighter from Kyosho and one of its strongest fighters, as demonstrated by his invitation to fight at the Battle of Red Cliffs.

Appearance

Bun'en is a brown-skinned man with blond hair who typically wears a black and white tracksuit.

Personality

Bun'en is a calm individual who is very kind and caring, taking care of Teni when she had no one else to care for her.

Ikkitousen: Dragon Destiny

Bun'en first appears at the hospital watching over Teni, stating that Chuutatsu Shibai did not care about him or Teni and that she only thought of them as pawns for her own gain.

He later tells Bunwa Kaku that she is no longer Kyosho's strategist nor a part of Kyosho itself, stating that they have gotten a better strategist in Shibai.

Bun'en joins the other Kyosho fighters at the Battle of Red Cliffs, wanting to obtain the Dragon Jade for Moutoku Sousou's sake.

Bun'en faces Saji, whom he recognizes—knowing that Saji's true name is Shishi Ouin, the man responsible for the deaths of both Chuuei Toutaku and Ryofu. Bun'en states that he will carry out Saji's fate and kill him. The two are later found on the floor bleeding from their foreheads, with Bun'en unconscious and Saji barely conscious.

Bun'en is last seen with Teni on a ranch, happily taking care of a horse. Teni asks Bun'en what its name is as she feeds the horse some grass.

Trivia

• Although the original Zhang Liao was known as the strongest member of the Five Elite Generals of Wei, Bun'en wasn't a member of the Generals' successor, the Three Pillar Gods.
• Unlike his predecessor, Bun'en doesn't play a major role in the plot.
  • In the manga, he plays a relatively major role, as he is charged with killing Ryuubi Gentoku. He moves from A-rank to Special A-Rank while fighting Shuuyu Koukin, who is protecting her.
• Like the real/first Bun'en Chōryō, he has a strong obsession with Kan'u, to the point of having a replica of her weapon, Seiryuuto—a replica regularly used by Shikou Soujin. This creates a misunderstanding during the assault of the toushi from Kansai (Extravaganza Epoch): Benkei fights her and breaks the replica, which leads to the rumor that Kan'u was defeated.
